An estimated 678,000 children (unique incidents) were victims of abuse and neglect in 2018 the most recent year there is national data.From the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence statistics in the United States, is more than 10 million adults experience domestic violence annually.I told my mother I was writing a book about my dad and the abuse we grew up with. I began to read the first chapter of my book to her.I remember I was small enough to stand up on a couch to look out the window. My dad sat in the car holding a revolver to his head. Mom and dad had just had a terrible fight. He had hit my mother and she flew across the room. She lay there in a pool of blood. My brother and sister sat beside her. My mother in a breathless voice kept yelling for me to get off the couch. I answered, “I can’t mama, I can’t. I watched in horror as he sat the in car with a gun to his head.
