As Senior Editor at HootSuite (a social media tool used by Fortune 100 companies) I worked one-on-one with the CEO to develop speeches and articles featured in Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Forbes and other leading business publications. In addition to creating content, I pitched articles to business magazines and worked collaboratively with magazine editors to secure placement. As part of the New Media Journalism Program, I teach on how to survive (and thrive) as a journalist at a time when traditional staff roles are few and far between. Drawing on my experience as a contributor to The New York Times, Washington Post and other outlets, I guide students on the art of creating compelling story ideas, connecting with editors and decision makers and building a career in the post newsroom era.

I’m a senior writer at Vancouver’s top-Google-ranked blog, InsideVancouver.ca, which receives more than 1.4 million annual visits. I specialize in creating compelling content specifically for the web, with an eye toward SEO, building a loyal reader base and generating consistent traffic with eye-catching headlines, sparkling content and strong imagery. I also apply a full social media toolkit, including Twitter and Facebook Pages, to promote posts and build audience.

I edited the English edition of Opinión Sur (www.opinionsur.org.ar), an international business e-journal published in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with more than 100,000 subscribers.I revised articles written by international experts in finance and geopolitics. In addition, I implemented a plan to grow readership among target groups in government and academia. I also communicated with external stakeholders to secure grant funding for the journal.

After university, I taught English as a Second Language at universities and institutes around the world, including: CEE Idiomas in Madrid, Spain; Centro de Estudios Interamericanos in Cuenca, Ecuador; and English Services in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I also developed fluency in Spanish, gained tremendous insight into Latino and Spanish culture and had the time of my life.
