I am a graduate of University of Illinois at Chicago with an MS/C in Occupational Therapy (OT). I have two concurrent roles: Acute care OT and Ergonomic Specialist. In the Acute Care OT position, I take on the challenges of both an acute mental health and traditional acute care rehabilitation caseload. I also have competency in vestibular therapy for patients with a potential differential diagnosis of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), assessing, treating, and consulting with patient and physician on treatment and discharge planning. I also have strong skills in sensory based coping strategies, cognitive rehabilitation and the re-motivation process. As an Ergonomic Specialist, I perform assessments and make recommendations for a variety of home, office, warehouse, workshop, laboratory and related settings. I build and present trainings on topics related to body mechanics, injury prevention, and workplace wellness.I also have a background in childhood education. I have experience designing and implementing curriculum for summer camps, nationally and internationally. I value building culturally competent collaboration, working with interpreters, stakeholders, and people with local knowledge, resources, and relationships to create developmentally appropriate programming for kids of all ages.Prior to a career change into OT, I spent 2+ years in grant writing then human resources, designing processes for HRIS implementation, and creating best practice for new hire on boarding, and streamlining benefits administration. In these positions I worked closely with C-level positions in IT, Finance and HR, to create processes to move data smoothly and reduce labor and costs. I was awarded the employee of the year award in 2005 for my efforts.In my free time, I race sailboats year round on Puget Sound and crewed for offshore racing from San Francisco to Oahu for the Pacific Cup regatta 2018 and completed the circumnavigation of Vancouver Island in the VanIsle 360 race 2019. In 2023, I was a member of the team that won the Race to Alaska, an engine-less human and wind powered adventure race. I am a board member as well as the volunteer coordinator for Sloop Tavern Yacht Club. I am passionate about sailing, racing, and inviting everyone to join me out in the breeze and the waves. From the boat to the hospital to the board room, I value effective communication, consensus driven decision-making, and leadership that designs collaboration from a bottom-up assessment of all resources and strengths available to accomplish the task and fulfill the mission.
