About Renae Williams

User experience researchers work as a guide within the product life cycle, focusing on the customer. As a listener and observer, you are constantly aware of the environment. Listening to people, both spoken and unspoken, how they engage and asking questions to uncover root causes. These opportunities can inform a product roadmap to discern and design products/features that meet customer needs ultimately creating product teams that are responsive and aiding in customer loyalty.User researchers then collaborate alongside product managers, engineers, and design teams to gather input and garner support. This is where skills as a listener and observer work well to build consensus across all stakeholders and empower them to make informed decisions that prioritize customer voice as we all work diligently to launch the product.Experience in qualitative and qualitative research:— Card sorting— Storyboarding— Tree testing— User personas— Focus groups & user interviews— A/B & usability testing— Surveys— Google Analytics— Data analysisThe approach I take is to center humanity, to champion diverse customer perspectives which ensures that more people find products that they love and are useful. Putting customer insights and needs at the forefront and aligning them with those of the business allows for user researchers to integrate into product teams to deliver research results that inform and impact the product roadmap.
