I am a senior, double major studying Life Science Communication and Chicanx/Latinx studies at UW-Madison, and I have a certificate in Global Health. My education goals combine my interests in environmental science and nutrition with my passion for making that information accessible to all.Background:I was born and raised in Madison in a bilingual, Mexican-American household. The Latinx community here is very dear to me and I want to further my involvement in clubs, volunteer opportunities, and events dedicated to future Latinx college students. Skills:My internship with Botham INK over the past summer has taught me how to successfully manage multiple social media platforms to increase engagement and gain followers. I also worked closely with clients to understand their visions for their brands and bring that vision to life through their social media. Working as a prep and line cook in a local restaurant, taught me the value of organization, communication and self advocacy. Additionally, I learned how to work in a high pressure environment and how to train other employees. This job also advanced my interest in nutrition by focusing on how customers responded to healthier or more comforting menu items. Through the Goodman Community Center, I was able to gain valuable relationships with successful members of the Madison Community. I gained strong teamwork skills when teaching programs or leading focus groups. I also learned how to communicate effectively with elementary and middle school aged kids.
