International synthetic biology competitionSupervisor : Dr Ferid NassorProject : Bactail is a project which aim to find a last resort solution against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This project consist in creating, thanks to synthetic biology, therapeutic bacteria which will fight resistant bacteria thanks to a combo of antimicrobial peptides and a new local recognition system, bacteriophage's long tail fibres specifics to the resistant bacteria. Results: Gold medal and nominated for the best therapeutics project.Position : In this project, I was in charge of the Bioinformatics and of the Human Practices part of the project. I helped creating a software which aim to generate therapeutic bacterias against their corresponding resistant targets. For the Human Practices, I was in charge of interviewing the key stakeholders linked to our project and to organize Public education and engagement. In one of the world leaders in the pharmaceutical industry, I was in charge of:- The development of an object-oriented biological data analysis tool in Python- OMICS data analysis- The development and management of planning- The presentation of the results in the form of a report and powerpoints

During this first internship, I helped to set up a gene therapy for mice with congenital muscular dystrophy linked to the Lmna gene.The techniques mainly carried out were: DNA extraction followed by PCR, cell culture (myoblast culture), purification of plasmid DNA, cryosection, extraction and assay of proteins by BCA, Western -Blot and protein detection by immunofluorescence.
