๐๐ฉโ๐ฆฐ As a storyteller you'd expect my bio to be a complete record of my life and you'd be right - ๐ฃ๐ถ๐ต ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฆ'๐ด ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ค๐ฉ๐ข๐ณ๐ข๐ค๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ญ๐ช๐ฎ๐ช๐ต ๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ:๐จ Creativity is at my core, always knowing that I wanted to be something with freedom of expression.๐ฑ As a sprout that idea took many forms but I think 6 y/o me would be very proud.๐ค Being exposed to sci-fi at a young age sparked my creativity, then watching behind the scenes ignited my drive to become a ๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐จ๐ซ.๐ โโ๏ธ I was told that I couldn't direct for a bundle of "reasons" - I'm female, it's hard, not realistic, blah blah blah. ๐๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข๐ด๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด ๐ต๐ฉ๐ข๐ต ๐ฑ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐จ๐ช๐ท๐ฆ ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ช๐ณ ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ฏ ๐ฅ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฃ๐ต ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ซ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฐ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ. But I didn't know, so I pivoted away from dreams.๐ฉโ๐ณ Something else I loved was baking, and with the reasoning I was expected to follow, it would be easier to break into and had a "guaranteed income" unlike a free artist.๐ I went to SWCTA majoring in Culinary Arts, meanwhile making videos and creative writing projects for every other subject, fulfilling my desire to be creative in the ways I felt most connected with despite my major.๐ฅ At 19 I got a job in DTLA as a fine dining Pastry Cook and was promoted to Pastry Sous Chef weeks in...the validation I felt! But I was overworked, underpaid, and emotionally drained. ๐๐ฏ๐บ ๐ฑ๐ข๐ด๐ด๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐ ๐ฉ๐ข๐ฅ ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐ฃ๐ข๐ฌ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ธ๐ข๐ด ๐ฅ๐ช๐ด๐ด๐ฐ๐ญ๐ท๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ช๐ฏ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ฆ๐ข๐ค๐ฉ ๐ฃ๐ข๐ต๐ค๐ฉ ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ฎ๐ข๐ค๐ข๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด ๐ ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ต๐ฆ๐ฅ.โค๏ธโ๐ฉน My body decided we were done when I got injured on duty due to being overworked. With immersive classes and on-set experience, I spent 3 years in college, very lucky to learn under a working Producer. He was the first person to encourage me - all I needed. Board SecretaryMojave Springs School Jun 2023 - Aug 2024Placed as the Interim Secretary on June 26th, 2023 due to the role becoming vacant and the other board members nominating her. Voted officially to the executive board position of Secretary at the annual meeting in August 2023. During the 15 months serving as Secretary, Ren completed many vital tasks and participated in board decisions that led to the school remaining open through the 23-24 school year, summer, and returning for the 24-25 school year, despite inheriting many major issues at the organization. Ren donated her marketing agencyโs services pro-bono, stepped in to support the administrative leader, led multiple committees before board decisions deemed them to be paused, and helped to develop the 24-25 strategic plan that would give the organization a second chance. Across this term, Ren donated about 1,000 hours of help to the organization with the intention of keeping it from closing down, allowing children to continue to benefit from the schoolโs mission. In August 2024 Renโs term was completed, and the role handed off to a new board member to continue the work. -
