Provides overall strategic, administrative, and programmatic direction and oversight. Department includes 5 divisions, 40 employees, and a $15.2M budget (2018).▪ Developer and implementer of Forefront SA, a community-wide economic development strategic plan that unifies and elevates development efforts to propel San Antonio to the forefront of today’s top-performing cities. Initiated a partnership that evolved the City’s economic development system which will integrate issues that impact social mobility like education, housing, infrastructure, and poverty among others.▪ Piloting an innovative client management system that connects multiple workforces and social service agencies to a shared software platform that maneuvers participants through agency services until sustained, meaningful employment.▪ Recruited/retained 57 city-sponsored projects, which represent the creation of 20K jobs and a $2.5B investment. Including Fortune 500 corporations, locally headquartered corporations, leading international ITcompanies, and revolutionary biotech start-ups.▪ Co-assisted in the City's $21.6M Consolidated Funding Process that includes RFP’s soliciting social services and workforce development partnerships in alignment with SA2020 outcomes. Allocation includes 58 agencies and 92 programs, funding priorities include youth services, school completion, senior services, and workforce training. ▪ Selected and participated in the prestigious Brookings Global Cities Initiative designed to help metropolitan leaders advance and grow their regional economies by strengthening international connections and competitiveness. One of eight pilot communities chosen to produce a detailed, data-driven work plan to prioritize foreign markets for trade and investment.▪ Initiated a Life Science Commercialization Strategy that leverages innovative biomedical research and commercialization activity being developed by the military, local academic institutions and other research institutes.

▪ Responsible for the successful reorganization and consolidation of various economic development functions. Reorganized operations generated $1M in operational savings and resulted in a net reduction of 22 employees.▪ Overhauled the Small Business Economic Development Advocacy Program, an economic development inclusion program that encourages the utilization and development of local small businesses. Award-winning and nationally recognized program that had a 50% increase in utilization and provides capacity building support services to ensure financial stability.▪ Designed and implemented LAUNCHSA, a one-of-a-kind small business resource center that emphasizes entrepreneurialism and connects and coordinates available small business resources. In partnership with LiftFund, the center has created 873 jobs and contributed $66.8M to the gross regional product. Center focuses on social return on investment and inclusive entrepreneurship.

CDLF is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). CDFI’s are private financial institutions that are dedicated to delivering responsible, affordable lending to help low-income, low-wealth, and other disadvantaged people and communities join the economic mainstream. Reported directly to the board of directors.▪ Responsible for providing overall leadership and administrative direction to CDLF and its stakeholders. Created opportunities that facilitated the growth and economic advancement of small businesses in San Antonio and surrounding areas.▪ Responsible for the overall capitalization and outreach planning for the organization. Successfully applied for and received private and public funding to increase capacity and provide funds for an outreach campaign, marketing analysis, and capitalization.▪ Responsible for positioning CDLF as a community resource. Successfully created partnerships with local, statewide and national organizations that promote business and economic development.
