Project title: polyDURAMEAHow do we replace fossil fuels in trains and ships to become climate neutral? Fuel cells are the best alternative to diesel engines, whereby hydrogen is refuelled and only pure water vapour remains as exhaust gas. Used in this way as an alternative, massive CO2 savings can be made. One challenge is the limited durability of the fuel cell. We have developed an innovative technology that enables the fuel cell to last twice as long and still be cheaper. This makes it possible to use the fuel cell in trucks, buses, trains, ships, aircrafts and in stationary applications. A fuel cell consists of many layers. The most important of these are collectively called the MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly). The MEA is also referred to as the heart of the fuel cell, because it plays a major role in determining the durability and cost of the fuel cell. We will produce and sell high quality MEAs on a large scale.
