Experienced Neurorehabilitation Specialist/Clinical Trials Professional/Health Educator/University Professor/Tele-Rehabilitation Specialist and Community Health and Exercise InstructorLicensed occupational therapist with vast clinical experience specializing in neurorehabilitation in a wide variety of practice settings. Moved from subacute brain injury after to work inpatient at University of California Irvine and that was a turning point in my career. I was afforded an opportunity to work in clinical research and am currently part of the new Center for Clinical Research at UC Irvine. I have been involved stroke recovery, TBI,SCI and neuromuscular disease trials. Studies included the use of stem cells, tele-rehabilitation, rehabilitation devices and pharmacology to improve motor recovery. Both as a private contractor and for UC Irvine I have developed of protocols and actual live training of physicians and therapists both nationally and internationally on the use of standardized assessments in clinical trials. Recently collaborated with a team to develop an entire online rater training and certification program for an SCI drug trial. Our lab has been recognized at UC Irvine for standardizing measures to improve clinical outcomes.As a result of my work with our NIH funded tele-rehabilitation study I am the lead clinical content developer and clinical liaison for TRCare, a private company who purchased the tele-rehabilitation system used in the study. TRCare is a digital therapy delivery platform designed by scientists and clinicians for Neuro-Rehabilitation. TRCare is an integrated tele-health platform that provides a virtual evaluation, home exercise program prescription and continuous patient performance monitoring by a licensed therapist.I keep my clinical skills sharp and stay at the heart of what I love to do by working as instructor in an Adapted Kinesiology/Emeritus program. I teach exercise, activity and health classes to persons with disabilities and seniors. One of my favorite classes that I teach is the aquatic therapy class. Everyone benefits from sunshine and the buoyancy of the water.I shared my skill set for many years as I worked as a professor in a Masters of Occupational Therapy program. I taught the core class of adult physical disabilities with a lab. Special emphasis of the class was neurological impairments. I developed the entire curriculum for the lecture and lab.My diverse skill set as a hands on clinician, educator and researcher has made me a well rounded therapist with a broad knowledge base.
