I am a Dept of Veterans Administration Health Scientist serving the technology transfer needs of two VA medical centers in Georgia (Augusta and Atlanta). I am the front-line contact for VA and dual affiliate employees who make and develop inventions that utilize any VA resource. I assist in the intake of invention disclosures, invention certifications, material transfer agreements, institutional management agreements, and cooperative research and development agreements. I also assist in the formal protection of inventors' intellectual property through patent protection and aid in finding licensing partners for technologies that the government has an ownership interest in.

I provide relevant information to academics and entrepreneurs on how to protect their intellectual property and creative works pro se using open-access resources and the United States Patent & Trademark Office portal. On a pro re nata (PRN) basis, I also offer the following services: IP docketing, USPTO office action shell preparation, structured patent searches, trademark searches, ICANN domain name registration, market research, business incorporation, SBA, and SAM registrations.

As part of my Applied Practicum Experience, I am assisting CGHI’s efforts to promote the life science industry and improve patient access to innovative technologies in Georgia. Through collating data and enabling legislation, I have contributed to CGHI’s resolve to advocate for a Rare Disease Advocacy Council in GA. I have also presented before the GA Patient Alliance persuasive evidence why they should support expanded private-public funding of promising rare disease innovations. Additionally, I have written synopses of the 2021 Georgia Bio Patient Advocacy Summit and the 2021 GaBio Innovation Summit presentations.

As Director, I facilitated and supported the growth of PIT's continuing legal education endeavor by identifying unmet needs, industry trends, and proposing new business development opportunities. I also presented practical recommendations and assisted in the implementation of proposed solutions. Additionally, I coordinated student on-boarding, law firm associate training, attorney continuing legal education accreditation, assisted with marketing efforts, and strengthened instructor-student-client relationships.
