Oversees all aspects of planning and operations for the educational programs and the participant experience at the Science Center of Iowa. Charged with building on the organization’s history and accomplishments to establish SCI as Iowa’s leader in free-choice science learning. SCI serves a diverse range of lifelong learners and is committed to meaningful partnerships with PK-12 schools, academia and business partners to advance science learning throughout Iowa. The position has broad responsibility for the oversight of the planning, research, development, implementation and evaluation of all education programs, outreach, participant programs as well as exhibits. In addition oversees operations of the science-based preschool with enrollment of over 100 students. and works to grow and improve the educational arm of operations.

Manage program evaluation, correspondence with 36 private and public schools, analyze data for report, facilitate and manage team meetings, coordinate grant contracts and allocations for more than 44,000 central Iowa students

Design courses and manage the Advanced Studies strand for Drake University and the Business/Education Alliance’s Effective Teaching and Learning Masters’ Degree Program .Developed the coursework and teach four graduate courses in the Advanced Studies program: Project-based Learning, Managing the Learning Environment, Balanced Assessment and Research Supported Approaches to Math Employ, coach, and evaluate adjunct instructors for multiple graduate and license renewal courses. Recruit and advise graduate students throughout their two-year program. Serve as liaison between Drake University’s Dean of Education and Effective Teaching Program Coordinator and the Business/Education Alliance. Manage an Extended Student Teaching program with Simpson College to provide student teachers a two-year intern experience in model classrooms with master teachers. Consult with school districts and teachers throughout Iowa to provide professional development and administrative support in multiple areas (balanced literacy, research-supported math, classroom management, assessment, project-based learning). Administer a partnership with Heartland AEA to provide innovative teacher and administrator training for continuing education and graduate credit.

Direct Education and Training activities on behalf of the Center including developing and convening a Global Education Institute to be used as a model for future local and national institutes, led the creation of essential concepts and skills for Iowa’s Core Curriculum in the area of Global Literacy for Iowa’s K-12 students, designed and led professional development for educators on infusing the global perspective in the classroom, collaborate with established organizations to increase citizen access to education and training programs and resources on global competency.

Administrated the implementation of a $100,000 grant from Iowa Learning and Technology Commission with a goal to motivate and engage students in project-based learning infused with technology. Responsibilities included grant evaluation, delivery of professional development of instructional techniques, support of technology training and problem solving.

Provided daily leadership to a school staff. Duties included coordination of the Student Services team and PTA/SBC, problem solving, implementation of the school's improvement plan, conflict management, facility management, organization of staff meetings and district required training, enforcement of district policies, and ethical leadership.
