International Conference Manager for multifaceted organization focused on eliminating micronutrient malnutrition around the world.

Launched new events department, supervising event staff. Wrote department policies and procedures, designed event plans and developed budgets for 60+ annual events; then transitioned from in-person to virtual productions as appropriate. Created sponsorship packages, solicited, recruited and maintained member sponsorships for revenue support at all levels. Oversaw and managed annual Awards Programs, designing applications, facilitating committee meetings, judging and orchestrate awards ceremony for the association.

As director of meetings, I was responsible for all aspects of meeting management for multiple non-profit associations including the California News Publishers Association, Pacific Northwest Newspaper Association, California Press Foundation, Sacramento Press Club and Journalism Association of Community Colleges. I worked directly with the president, president-elect, board of directors and committees to strategize and design annual meetings, legislative conferences, award banquets, luncheons and multi-day conferences throughout California and in Seattle and Portland. In 2018-2019, I came up with a new concept in our event plan to rearrange our annual conference with the Governmental Affairs day event and to let the California Journalism Awards show stand alone as a gala event. The idea was embraced by the board and we worked diligently to implement the new plan and rebrand both our annual conference and awards banquets with 200% increased participation from members and a $50,000 net profit on a break-even budget. The new events offered success on all levels!

I created The Ocean Festival, Inc. as a non-profit organization working with marine organizations including the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary, Santa Barbara Channelkeeper and Ty Warner Sea Center and the local community to bring ocean awareness to the public and to provide education opportunities for festival attendees to learn more about ocean health, protection, preservation and recreation.The Santa Barbara Ocean Festival was held in conjunction with World Oceans Day (June 8) to celebrate the ocean, promote ocean health, teach conservation, and encourage people to enjoy the ocean, sea life, and the incredible marine treasures along the California coast.

As Senior Communications Manager at Somera Communications, I was responsible for the marketing communications of the company and global trade show program. Working with our global sales teams, I helped target the shows we needed to increase sales, handled the logistics for each program and oversaw the events to increase ROI. Internally, I assisted with the rebranding efforts of the company, including the relaunch of our new corporate identity.

As Senior Events Marketing Manager at Commission Junction, I oversaw the physical efforts of our national marketing campaign to "sell anything, anywhere, anytime" with affiliate marketing. Overseeing a small staff in the event marketing department, I managed our promotional inventories, developed the tradeshow program, built several exhibit properties, and traveled the country organizing internet and marketing trade shows while developing a multifaceted user-conference that drew in affiliates and taught them how to excel in our network.

They say if you "sell air" you can sell anything. Working at KRUZ, KTYD, KLITE and KQSB Talk Radio was an incredible experience. I learned a little about the broadcast industry in general, but more about selling strategies, commission oriented results, and sales. As one of the top-producers on the team, I earned both the respect of my clients and the station managers.
