North Carolina native Renee Alexander Craft is an artist and critical ethnographer whose research focuses on cultural performances of black resistance in the Americas. For the past fifteen years, she has been engaged in a research project with an Afro-Latin community located along the Caribbean coast of Panama who call themselves and their performance tradition, Congo.
