The committee reviews the various policy and practical issues affecting global cross-border legal practice. The committee is comprised of legal practitioners from a remarkably diverse cross-section of the major areas of law and from countries around the world.

The ABA delegation to the United Nations actively participates in UN sessions, providing advice and comments on legal, technical, and substantive matters in areas where the Association has expertise.

The UN & International Institutions Coordinating Committee actively develops and promotes the cooperative relationship between the UN, its specialized agencies, and other intergovernmental organizations, on the one hand, and the ABA and the Section of International Law. It identifies transnational public and private law issues of interest to the ABA, and coordinates the formulation of ABA positions. This committee examines the legal issues affecting nongovernmental organizations(NGOs) and nonprofits worldwide. During my time as Co Chair, the Committee won an award for its efforts to improve engagement of members, educational programming, and networking opportunities.

The ABA Presidential Task Force on Sustainable Development, chaired by Lee DeHihns, was established to examine emerging legal issues and challenges in sustainable development and to identify ways to advance and achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
