Paul Carlson Partnership’s (PCP) mission is to catalyze holistic growth of healthy families and communities in places of deep poverty. Working together with partners in Africa and elsewhere, we invest in local efforts in medical, economic and infrastructure development. We catalyze development by supporting the ideas and initiatives of local partners. Our local partners contribute time, money, and resources to all the projects we engage together. We join these projects through developing strategy together, raising funds, staying connected via technology, and building relationships. Partnering with local leaders in all of our projects, we focus on relational capacity building, and we contribute to the development of individuals within organizations that are committed to long term solutions that endure. Additionally, we support projects that can grow to support themselves through production and sales. PCP is blessed with a 55-year history in DR Congo. In November of 1964, Covenant medical missionary Dr. Paul Carlson was martyred in DR Congo. Reporting to the Board of Directors, as the Executive Director of the Lansing Area Chamber of Commerce I oversaw all aspects of Chamber life. Facilitating greater scope and positive growth, I led the Chamber from a single town Chamber (Lansing) to an Area Chamber of 18 communities. Membership grew 45% from 179 businesses/organizations/individuals to 260. I also led the Board of Directors through a complete revision of organizational structure and bylaws. During my tenure the Chamber launched a new annual destination event, The LOOP! bike ride which drew 300 cyclists its inaugural year. Improved average monthly Chamber meeting attendance from 20 to 45. Daily practice included managing the Chamber office, supervising the Administrative Assistant, and administering payroll. Community members described the Chamber’s culture as energetic, strategic, encouraging, and kind.
