For the last five years I have been working for Ecotrust Canada, as a leader in the fisheries team, providing services to a wide variety of First Nation communities and government departments. I am currently developing and implementing a new dockside monitoring program for the first Community Based Fishery in BC, which involves strong community consultation, the ability to collaborate directly with the federal government and Council of the Haida Nation, maintaining excellent communication, as well refined interpersonal and organization skills. My current role includes in-depth planning, program execution, and collaboration while continuing to innovate to provide services to remote communities and empower teams to excel at their duties. When implementing a new dockside monitoring program, it is critical to identify any outstanding issues and work cooperatively with clients and the federal government under strict deadlines, budget restraints, and regulatory hurdles.

Oversee Commercial Fisheries' Dockside Monitoring and Electronic Monitoring Programs on the North Coast. The position involved recruiting, training and staff supervision with teams in Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii. Managing the Prince Rupert office included responsibilities in project management, human resources, clientele relationships and working as a team throughout the coastal BC offices. The commercial fishing industry demands a high level of coordination, innovation and time management.

Monitor and document the offload activities for the hook and line fleet, trawl fleet as well as the geoduck fishery. Strong communication skills were needed as fisheries quotas were discussed as well as compliance of fisheries regulation with skippers and plant staff. The position was in a fast paced, time sensitive environment. I gained the ability to accurately calculate quotas and identify all species retained or relinquished.
