Serving as a Social Worker working collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team to assess and identify needs of MLTC members who are chronically ill and/or living with a disability. Performed biopsychosocial assessments in the field and over the phone to determine cognitive status, mood, social and community service needs. Developed a comprehensive care plan for each member based on counseling, housing, social support and financial status.

Served as a Social Work Intern offering caring and compassionate support to immigrant and refugee clients. Assisted clients with obtaining access to needed resources; coping with difficult circumstances; and engagement to become active participants in the problem-solving process. Provided individual counseling to asylum seekers using motivation and strengths-based interview techniques as well as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions.

Provided support in using OCA and court calendars to determine eligibility for the organization’s alternative incarceration (ATI) program. Assisted with French and Haitian Creole translation during Naturalization and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) clinics. Translated official documents from French into English for paralegals and attorneys. Gathered documents in support of applications for relief from removal.
