Program Director, Maritime Sustainable Development
CurrentResponsible for program development and implementation of sustainability-focused projects, policies, and initiatives, including the Port’s first microgrid project, advancement of clean freight solutions, infrastructure modernization, electrification of operations, and advancements of renewable energy and resiliency initiatives to reduce air emissions, save money, and increase energy reliability. Works closely with other departments within the Port and external stakeholders (utilities, state regulators, other agencies, non-profits, and academia) to ensure efficient and thoughtful completion of sustainability efforts that drive achievement of the Port’s Maritime Clean Air Strategy (MCAS) and the Climate Action Plan (CAP). Creates strategic plans to achieve near- and long-term priorities set forth by the Port and regulatory bodies. Monitors industry trends and technologies. Coordinates with tenants and community groups to ensure that programs and projects are aligned with stakeholder needs. Serves as an expert resource for journalists and other members of the news media about the latest developments in sustainability technology or practices at the Port. Creates reports about sustainability performance and shares findings with stakeholders. Prior team accomplishments include:- 18% reduction in GHG emissions- $10M in avoided energy costs due to energyefficiency and renewable energy- Infrastructure to support electric vehicles and equipment- Implementation of a California Energy Commission grant funded microgrid at the Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal
