I grew up on the northern and southern borders of the United States, in rural Michigan and El Paso, Texas. From April 2020 to April 2022 I worked as a reporter and assistant editor for El Paso Matters, authoring in-depth and investigative journalism on a range of topics. I most frequently reported on immigration, human rights, COVID-19, and arts and culture. After leaving El Paso Matters in April 2022, I returned to freelancing as a reporter, editor, ghostwriter, and creative director. In January 2023 I started work at the Project on Government Oversight as an investigative reporter. I have written about the U.S.-Mexico borderlands, justice, human rights, and arts and culture on a freelance basis for online and print publications, including: Teen Vogue, i-D, The Creative Independent, Facility Magazine, Splice and more. My creative direction work has included clients and outlets such as: Geico, Red Bull, Vice, Time Warner/AARP, A&E, Lifetime, The History Channel, FYI, & TruTV. My performance work as Ziemba is also an outlet for my production design work, including music videos, costume design, and creative direction.Performing as Ziemba, I have held music and creative residencies with Kickstarter, Pioneer Works, Guerrilla Science, Varda AiR, and the French Institute in Fez, Morocco. I have performed original and collaborative work at art, music, and dance spaces throughout NYC and internationally, including: MoMA Ps1, National Sawdust, Issue Project Room, The Museum of Art & Design, Knockdown Center, and The French Institute in Fez, Morocco. I have composed original music for film, TV, and several NYC dance companies, and have had Ziemba songs featured in television and film including Comedy Central's "Broad City," and the film "Sky Line."
