For the best part of two decades managerial and executive positions were held at a number of general hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Besides these I shouldered responsibilities in several national and international organizations, relating to healthcare.After a mid-career sabbatical leave I started a private practice as a consultant on governance, strategic management issues and interim management. Voorzitter BestuurStichting Leer Anderen Helpen (Slah) Mar 2018 - Oct 2024UtrechtThe position of Chairman of the Board of the Foundation Empowering Others to Provide Care (SLAH) was held.The mission of SLAH is to provide ophthalmic care to people in less affluent regions in the world who do not or barely have access to this type of healthcare. In providing this care as much as possible skills and expertise are transferred to local physicians and other care providers, in order that in the longer run help from outsiders is less or entirely no longer needed. Usually the care provided consists of eye surgery replacing a clouded lens (cataract) by an artificial intraocular lens. All participating ophthalmologists and board members perform their work for SLAH on a voluntary basis without financial retribution. Since the start of the organization in 1989 support was provided in different regions in Indonesia, given the intimate relationship of several of SLAH’s ophthalmologists with that country. Due to increasing affluence in Indonesia and the growing number of ophthalmologists even in more remote regions of that country, SLAH has started projects in other parts of the world. This is done especially in the context of a procedure for asylum seekers.iMMO uses free lance professionals – especially physicians and psychologists – who have the required knowledge and expertise, who commit themselves on a voluntary basis and who are not bound to iMMO by an employment contract. These assessors are trained by iMMO and perform assessments working independently within the framework of their professional responsibility.Besides forensic medical assessments iMMO offers advice and consultation to professionals having questions regarding medical aspects of (amongst other) the asylum procedure. iMMO also provides training and education, e.g. with regard to the early recognition of victims of torture or inhumane treatment.For more information please visit: www.stichtingimmo.nl.

From April 1st 2009 until January 1st 2011 a temporary term was served as the first Chief Executive.
