Shortly after graduating from San Jose State University, I joined a small medical device company called MedTech Innovations, Inc. There, I was exposed to the close integration of biomedical engineering with the real world. The process was challenging, especially in the early stages of the project, where I needed to find a balance between device development and commercialization due to lack of resources and experience. By actively learning and collaborating with my team, I not only successfully met the challenges, but also drove the successful launch of a minimally invasive device. This experience made me realize that innovation and practicality are the key factors driving my career forward.In 2015, I was promoted to Senior Engineering Manager at Medtronic, where I was responsible for the leadership of an interdisciplinary team. In this role, the biggest challenge I faced was how to integrate the team's diverse backgrounds and expertise to drive the R&D process. To address this challenge, I implemented an “open innovation” model that encouraged team members to come up with new ideas and suggestions, while ensuring that the project moved forward efficiently. In the end, we successfully developed three high-end medical devices that were highly recognized by the market and significantly improved the competitiveness of the company. Through this experience, I learned how to lead a team in a complex environment and achieve goals under pressure.
