As part of the Winter Internship Programme of Azim Premji University, I got an opportunity to teach in Govenrment Schools in Sirohi, Rjasthan to get a first-hand understanding of teachers’ roles and responsibilities.Classroom experiences gave a complete insight into how the teaching-learning process happens in schools and helped to identify areas for improvement. Interacting with the students directly on a daily basis gave a newer perspective in understanding their educational and emotional needsI participated in teacher education and skill development activities through workshops, Voluntary Teacher Forums and Learning Resource Centers. I also engaged with school development programmes – setting up of classroom library and activities for children. Developing manipulatives and interactive teaching aids for enhancing the hands- on skills of children.Working towards improving the atmosphere and ambience inside the classrooms and around the school was a great learning, along with interacting and involving the teachers and students in these activities to develop a sense of commitment and an onus to keep maintaining these.

As part of the Field Practice Programme, I got an opportunity to interact with all stakeholders in an organizational setting to understand implementation of educational interventions and special programs.I was also involved in developing a tool as part of an educational intervention for enhancing and improving children's listening and writing skills.As part of the Special Education Programme, I had a chance to interact with Special Educators and understand their roles for differently-abled children and also interacted with the Anganwadi teachers to understand how the Early and Informal Education Systems work.

To get an exposure to the public school system, I interned with Disctrict Institute at Dharamjaigarh and visited several government schools and interacted with stakeholders of education system: Block Resource Coordinator, Block Education Officer, Chief Education Officer, Teachers and StudentsI got a first-hand experience of the teaching -learning process inside the classrooms and weekly interaction with the field mentors and field faculty helped to get a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in school improvement.
