“Be the change that you want to see in the world” -Gandhi. This quote is a value that I have adopted and implemented into my daily life. This perspective inspires me to act on systemic issues that impact those who are underrepresented and vulnerable. Issues such as poverty, injustice, and inequity weigh heavy on my heart, which is the reason I am committed to bring various systems, such as child welfare, criminal justice, and the like, together to better serve communities. As a macro-social work professional, my mission is to bring these systems and organizations together by engaging in policy, research, community partnerships, and advocacy. There is value in ensuring that when making decisions for target populations, that these decisions are community driven. I strive for positive impacts in all the work I engage in to empower people and community’s to promote upward mobility.
