As a Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist and health services researcher, I combine clinical expertise with data science to better understand and improve patient outcomes. My work spans participatory research, outcome measure development, and addressing health disparities, all while maintaining a user-centered approach. Through my clinical experience providing prosthetic and orthotic care, I’ve identified key gaps in practice and utilized data-driven insights to help improve care for individuals with limb loss.In my research, I focus on evaluating health and mobility outcomes by leveraging big data and electronic health records. My dissertation, “Post-acute trajectories and readmission risks among Medicare beneficiaries following lower limb amputation,” examines post-acute care pathways and uses Medicare claims data and machine learning to predict patient outcomes and readmission risks. Through this work, I’ve gained extensive experience in applying advanced statistical methods, including causal and predictive modeling, to inform healthcare decision-making. My goal is to translate these skills from academia to the tech and health industries, where I can continue driving data-driven innovations that improve patient care and promote health equity.
