The Emerging Leaders in Biosecurity (ELBI) Fellowship inspires and connects the next generation of leaders and innovators in the biosecurity community. This highly-competitive, part-time program is an opportunity for talented career professionals to deepen their expertise, expand their network, and build their leadership skills through a series of sponsored events coordinated by the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security. This fellowship boasts more than 100 alumni who represent government, defense, private industry, science, law, public health, medicine, global health, journalism, the social sciences, and academia.

• Managed Project Public Health Ready (PPHR), a CDC funded national public health preparedness program that assesses local planning• Led program team and activities, supervised staff, provided guidance on preparedness planning, and managed the annual budget• Architected a preparedness policy advisory group, comprised of 54 SMEs, which represents the nation’s 2,600 local health departments and provides direct input to federal partners and stakeholders• Developed an evidence-based capabilities resource portfolio in collaboration with CDC and the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy• Served as the subject matter expert on preparedness standards, planning, and quality improvement; represented NACCHO and collaborated with experts on related topics (e.g., accreditation, environmental health)• Appointed to select project teams to improve internal organizational processes and systems (e.g., accounting, proposal responses, hiring); to develop a project and budget management handbook• Planned, facilitated, and evaluated national workshops designed to promote peer-designed public health preparedness best practices and innovative resources; collected and analyzed program historical user data; presented results using MS Excel and GIS at national conferences to determine future outreach
