About Reshma Chandran

I am currently an Interdisciplinary Research Scholar at IIT Madras, where my research is centered on the Coir industry in Kerala, with a specific focus on the socio economic issues faced by the workers and interventions to coir composites." I'm passionate about sustainability, waste management, and sustainable menstruation.I have previously worked with Haritha Keralam Mission and Clean Kerala Company projects for waste management in local bodies in Kerala. Apart from that I've also worked with a Finland based company as a Program Manager - Environment and Sustainability, where I collaborated with the Max Planck Institute for developing course modules on waste management. In addition,> I am author to a book on the Science and Myths behind Menstruation which was published in October 2022 by Kerala Shastra Sahithya Parishad.> Editorial board member of an online science magazine called LUCA by Kerala Shastra Sahithya Parishad from 2022.> Planning Committee member of Pallichal Panchayath, Trivandrum, Kerala from 2021.> Designed an online course called 'My period, My Pride' to spread awareness on menstrual health and hygiene in 2021.> Started a campaign called, 'Plastic Free Menstruation', to promote sustainable Menstruation among menstruators during the Environment Day 2020 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. (Today, menstruators within and outside Kerala have joined the movement)> Founder of a community group called 'Sustainability Collaborators' to promote sustainable practices.
