Reshma Ramkellawan is an educational consultant and co-founder of Equity Consulting Group, where she brings over two decades of experience supporting schools and educators in creating equitable and culturally responsive learning environments. In her role, she provides instructional coaching and strategic consulting for school improvement and curriculum design. At Teaching Matters, she provides expertise in curriculum design, assessment, and instructional leadership.Throughout her career, Reshma has held impactful roles as an English teacher, department leader, and administrator in New York City and Florida public schools. At Democracy Prep Public Schools, she led classroom management initiatives and developed a high school prep curriculum. While serving as a teacher at Explore Schools, she was recognized for her innovative social justice education, with 97% of her students reaching advanced reading levels.Reshma is an active member of professional organizations, including the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA). She serves on the College Section Steering Committee for NCTE and was previously the Secretary for the AERA’s Research on the Education of Asian and Pacific Americans special interest group.She is passionate about strategic planning for school improvement, intentional equity, and culturally responsive teaching. Her research, publications, and public speaking engagements have focused on these topics, exploring them through a lens of intentional design and equity.Reshma holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Central Florida with Honors in the Major. She earned her Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching, Master of Education in English Education, and Doctorate in the Teaching of English from Columbia University Teachers College.
