Worked on a method to separate, detect and image small molecules and biomarkers with minimal sample preparation, low limits of detection and negligible chemical background using Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionisation (MALDI) mass spectrometers. GLancing Angle Deposited (GLAD) nano-columned, thin films were used as the matrix-free substrate for our LDI-MS and UTLC work. This research was done in collaboration with groups from Engineering and Neuroscience at the University of Alberta.

- Managed a divisional manufacturing plant’s Quality Management System (QSM, ISO 9001:2000) by ensuring that the protocols were followed for company’s recertification audits- Supervised the activities of six quality control lab technicians. Trained technicians in analytical techniques, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and OHS in order to produce products within specifications, with minimal losses and downtime- Reviewed and signed off on quality control data to ensure that specifications were met and deviations monitored for preventative actions- Analysed ISO audit findings and customers’ feedback with sales, engineering and production teams for solutions to correct issues and to maintain customer relations- Resolved non-conformances in the QSM by implementing corrective/preventative actions (CAPAs) with the assistance of other management teams- Ensured that work instructions and SOPs were available and up to date to guarantee clarity, reproducibility and ease of use for staff
