Profile bio

About Retta Blaney, M.A., M.F.A.

“In writing, nothing is too much trouble,” Professor Maura Eichner, poet and educator wrote.I have followed this advice from my beloved college professor throughout my writing career. With my passion for accurate, concise, impactful writing I won six journalism awards for the newspapers I worked for as a full-time reporter. As a freelance writer my skill at interviewing and storytelling has won four awards for the publications I write for now. These comments from the judges highlight the distinction of my work: “Very readable and well done. This piece shows an expert blend of narrative and dialogue. The separate stories are woven together nicely.” And: “Terrific work. Readers will want to get to know (Max) McLean and reread their favorite (C.S.) Lewis books. This should be required reading.”The people I interview have also responded positively. “You’re a good interviewer. You listen and you make eye contact.” That was the observation of the late esteemed actor Edward Herrmann when I interviewed him for my second book, "Working on the Inside: The Spiritual Life Through the Eyes of Actors."

Listed skills include Blogging, Entertainment, Press Releases, Editing, and 31 others.
