I have taken advantage of an opportunity to start a second career as a Reverse Mortgage Consultant with Homeowners Mortgage Enterprises, Inc., a subsidiary of CoastalStates Bank. My new career enables me to serve the reverse mortgage needs throughout Eastern North Carolina. Having participated in the initial pilot program with HUD over twenty years ago, it is exciting to see that the product is finally coming of age. As more and more baby boomers retire, they begin to look for options to assist with supplementing their social security income, investment income, estate planning and unexpected expenses. The new face of the Reverse Mortgage has become a tool for “funding longevity”. Being in a position to help my generation understand the financial benefits a reverse mortgage can provide is very rewarding.
