Due to the success and interest of the first HAT Team a second project was begun and because of my understanding of the technologies used and experience in the broader software development lifecycle I was asked to step into a Technical Lead role within the group help guide one of the HAT Teams through the development of their feature set.Involved with guiding the Developers through the stages of the project from breaking down stories and acceptance criteria to understanding how to interpret these from a development perspective. To this end, each team builds a state-of-the-art JavaScript application for a local charity.As developers we are involved in every stage of the project, from first discussions with the client to final delivery and deployment. Along the way, they use real world tools (e.g., GitHub, Kanban, pull requests) and learn every part of the process, including testing and TDD.Current projects use React, Redux, ReduxObservable, Rx.js, Apollo, GraphQL, Prisma, Docker, PostgreSQL, and more in a strongly functional way using ES.next. The junior developers and testers work through stories, do code reviews, run tests, get product owner sign off, etc. until the final project is delivered.

Contracted to work within the Collaborative Technologies Programme (CTP) this role saw me work with various stakeholder groups across VUW from researchers and academics to support and professional staff.The CTP's objective was champion and deliver collaborative business solutions for all university staff members using Microsoft's Office 365 (O365) cloud platform.This encompassed delivering a complete consulting experience. From working with the staff members to elicit their business problems and requirements using workshops and Design Thinking techniques. To designing and building a solution with tools from within the O365 ecosystem including but not limited to Groups, SharePoint, Flow, Planner and OneNote. Finally delivering the solution with required training and support. This was done in an Agile way focused on delivering MVP quickly and working with users on iterating as needed until optimal solution and understanding found.

Working in an Agile environment utilising Scrum I undertook the role of the Product Owner. For me this begins with understanding the desired user outcomes in order to frame the user journey and guide feature priority.The role sees me go from driving discovery workshops with stakeholders of all levels and areas to documenting analysis such as workflow diagrams and designing the UI and through prototyping. The objective of this is to be able to effectively map the user journeys and build shared understanding between myself, the business and the developers so that stories can quickly and easily be taken from the backlog to the sprint review and the process can be repeated.There is always another challenge and I often am juggling multiple streams of work from new projects to BAU activities as well as supporting existing products.

In the role of Reporting Business Analyst I was responsible for supporting the corporate services accounting software, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains (GP), as well as designing and implementing internal reporting initiatives.The GP support facet of the role has involved troubleshooting user issues as well as identifying and rectifying data integrity issues using among other methods ad hoc SQL queries. Where the issues have been process or system related I will identify and implement an appropriate solution.The report initiatives have ranged from providing a solution to manage the rate compliance across Hays' temporary and permanent placement contracts to providing daily reports to the sales side of the business for Australia, New Zealand, and Asia regions.The goal of many of these reports being to provide a dynamic snapshot of current or predicted state based on multiple parameters and allow the user to make an informed decision.

As Report Writer my main initial responsibility was the legacy report migration project. The aim of this project was to take the previous suite of crystal reports and redeveloping them as SSRS solutions across Hays' corporate services departments.The project involved working with various stakeholders in each department to identify their reporting requirements primarily to see how we could use SSRS reduce duplication of reports and improve productivity for the report users.The main challenge faced was finding the balance between flexibility and scope for common reporting requirements where users were able to have the functionality required while maintaining usability across the use cases.The project was successfully able to migrate all major reporting requirements into SSRS solutions and take advantage of the added features this provides.

Contracted to work with the client Retail Meat Training Organisation (RMITO) I was involved in several information technology projects helping to improve their organisational systems and processes as well as working on their service delivery model redesign and implementation.Achievements:- Successfully manage the database integration project to go live with new government system. Able to achieve this with the first 5 industry training organisations involved out of a group of 38.- The work performed at RMITO resulted in the client meeting strategic goals and achieve a 25% increase trainees during my contracted period.
