I am a husband, father of two, and an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister, currently working as a Chaplain Resident at UVA Health Center. Previously I served congreatons in Maine, Massachusetts, and Virginia for nearly 25 years, served for 3 years at the headqurters of the Unitarian Universalist Association, and have offered Spiritual Companionship (primarily at-a-distance) with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and life situations through my independent practice. I served a Chaplain Residency at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA, and am now Lead Chaplain at Winchester Medical Center and Valley Health System in Winchester, VA.Over my career I’ve companioned hundreds of people through both difficult and joyful times in congregational and hospital settings — officiating weddings, facilitating memorial services, providing pastoral care and spiritual guidance to adults, families, teenagers and children, and staff members at the institutions where I’ve worked. As a Unitarian Universalist I am open to the variety of ways people experience and understand their spirituality (however they name it) and the meaning it gives their lives. One of the greatest pleasures of my work has been my encounters with people who see the world very differently than I do.I am also an accomplished writer, having given hundreds of sermons and written thousands of words (this includes authoring three books and editing one anthology, as well as having chapters included in three anthologies). I have also been a keynote speaker and workshop leader at conferences around the country. All of this is to say that I am seasoned pastor and pastoral care provider, accomplished writer and public speaker, and have years of experience facilitating workshops and retreats. (I'm also a juggler, magician, and fire eater.)
