Public Service Assitant
CurrentAs a Public Service Assistant I am a library Patron's first point of contact for assistance at our information desk. I use my extensive knowledge of Library Resources, technical skills, and immense customer service experience to help my community succeed. I have additional tasks such as deescalating upset patrons, creating book displays, and tutoring and coaching staff members who are newer to KCLS and to library work. I have extensive experience as a Library Safety Designate at both Bellevue and Newcastle Libraries where I worked closely with our managers to create new safety frameworks, teach the framework to staff, and answer and follow up on any safety concerns in our building to ensure staff are confident with their ability to respond to any situation from fires, lockdowns, and accidents.I am an excellent team builder and believe in putting in extra effort to show my teams that our Library is a space we can come to every day knowing we want each other to succeed. This includes public speaking, handling team concerns with dialogue and empathy. I believe your actions will communicate your abilities to your team more than any email.Other Duties as Assigned include:• Collaborated on hiring panels for Operations Management positions in our region• Empowered staff as safety designate, where I followed up with staff safety concerns, taught staff safety protocols for our building, and led team discussions for responses on emergency situations• wrote and implement a new building protocol for lockdowns, had management approve the project for implementation.• Empowered fellow staff members by improving branch morale through my work as safety designate, my attitude in the workplace, and my ability to collaborate and teach workflow to teammates.
