University Of Louisville Hospital

Completed one unit of level I C.P.E. (Clinical Pastoral Education) at University of Louisville level 1 trauma hospital as part of my theological education. As chaplain intern I engaged a diverse population of patients experiencing traumas and/or emergencies that ranged from birth to death. I worked to provide spiritual care for patients and family members as they arrived at the hospital for emergencies. I developed good working relationships with doctors/nurses, registration staff and all members of the care team at the hospital.

St. Luke'S United Church Of Christ Jeffersonville, In

I was the student pastor at St. Luke's as part of my 2nd year curriculum at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. This field placement was part of the "Practical Theology in Congregations" class at the seminary. I had a wonderful year of growth with the community at St. Luke's. This field education experience built upon the foundation of my time at v.a. medical center in my first year, where I began to develop my pastoral identity and my sense of call.

This was a voluntary first year field education experience (for Master of Divinity Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary). I received field education credits for my time at the medical center. I learned the basics of pastoral care and pastoral presence in this position. This was my first experience in the chaplaincy and it afforded me the opportunity to practice and develop my pastoral/counseling skills.
