As a research assistant in the Injury Biomechanics Lab, under the leadership of Dr. Susan Margulies, I was involved on a project that attempted to characterise axonal injury in neonatal swine brains, to predict pediatric traumatic brain injury (TBI), by developing a prediction model.- Processed medical images (DTI, MRI, & histology) for the purpose of correlating the Finite Element Model (FEM) of the swine brain, to areas of axonal injury density and white matter tract orientations.- Devised a protocol for registration of Diffusion Tensor Images (DTI) of the swine brains to a FEM mask. - Assessed histopathology images to segment white and grey matter regions, to compare to AID levels in the brain.- Assisted in swine behavioral studies, which includes pre and post injury assessment.- Performed literature reviews and created summary reports as required by senior lab members.

- Reconstructed CT and MRI scans of cadaveric human ankle bones in AnalyzeDirect and Geomagic Control, to generate 3D models of 10 different cadaver specimens.- Designed 3D CAD models of four different types of Total Ankle Replacement (TAR) implants in Creo Parametric, using anatomical geometric references from the reconstructed cadaver scans.- Developed a new simulation test protocol to analyze the surface-to-surface relationship between any two articulating bones of the ankle joint complex (also known as distance mapping). Cadaveric specimens were loaded onto a special jig on which the ankle joint was loaded in flexion, inversion, and rotation, and the resulting bone movements were recorded via fiduciary marker data. Used the fiducial data and 3D bone models to generate color-coded distance maps for the ankle and sub-talar joints.

- Handled minor design, and all procurement operations for two hydraulic system modules; a Top-up Water Tank Module for cooling system installed in an industrial furnace, and a Low-Temperature Plate Heat Exchanger system, also for an industrial furnace.- Designed small, non-standard parts to be included in the module drawing assembly sheet.- Interpreted and analysed the design, drawings, and requirements of each module individually. Assembled a spreadsheet in MS Excel for each module’s bill of materials. By expediting the procurement process 20% ahead of schedule, the company gained more leverage on their manufacturing and assembly timeline.
