My primary role is still an End-User Support Specialist, but I have moved to work in our new IT Operations Center in the Marmaduke Internet Innovation Center (MIIC, formerly known as the HELC). With this internal restructuring, I have been given the opportunity to learn more skills from different departments within IT, such as Networking and Information Security. My team and I work to provide quick and effective solutions whenever people need them the most. My additional responsibilities are mentioned below:• Maintain fundamental duties and responsibilities as an “End-User Support Specialist”.• Respond promptly to IT-related emergencies and high-priority incidents.• Monitor different applications including PRTG, Sophos Central, and Cisco Umbrella to detect anomalies to prevent system breaches or outages.• Coordinate frequently with other IT departments, such as information security and networking, to resolve different technical issues.• Resolved over 1,300 service requests/incidents with varying degrees of complexity.• Demonstrate leadership through initiative and quality service to users and team members.

As a member of the End-User Support team, I am responsible for several important technology-related activities across campus. On a daily basis, I assist faculty and staff in all departments with technology-related issues or concerns. These issues can range in varying degrees of complexity, such as configuring email settings, setting up network printers, or troubleshooting database issues for certain departments.I also maintain and replace desktops and other devices across campus. We track essential information about these devices using several tools, such as vulnerability detection software, IT service managers, and mobile device management (MDM) software. Another important responsibility I have involves troubleshooting classroom-related problems in a timely manner. On occasion, I will have to work in situations with a high-stress level because professors may have issues during important lectures or meetings. It is important to be adaptable and knowledgeable of the environment you are in for situations like these.Finally, I also work with other departments of IT to manage account information for students, faculty, and staff members. All accounts on campus need to be logged appropriately as they are being used across many of the integrated or supported services that we provide at WT. They also need to be provided specific permissions based on the type of user they are and what type of access they will need across campus.

A door screener is an essential position that was made to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. We ensure the safety of all of the residents and staff in the facility by signing everyone in and out of the building with temperature checks and appropriate questioning. Door screeners can represent the company through customer service and first impressions of the facility. Door screeners also can act as receptionists or assistants for other staff members in the building if they need it. Door screeners can direct phones, deliver essential goods, and take on other projects that may be deemed necessary by certain managers. My unique personal experience as a door screener also notably involved repairing and setting up computer equipment. I personally set up new monitors, fixed printer issues tied to local computers, helped staff members acquire a more efficient workflow with their computers, and I even helped set up a switch for our local network.
