2D Animator
Lead Artist & Game Designer
My roles for Glowing Door can fluctuate from concept to art production to game design, but gameplay problems are solved by a small team of multiple disciplined designers & developers. I've also been handling all assets for the game, which includes creating tile sheets, sprite sheets, & animations(frame by frame). Style continuity is a big concern, as we want to stay faithful to an 8bit aesthetic. Programs used are Aseprite & Clip Studio.https://twitter.com/GlowingDoorGame
3D Modeler, 3D Printer Tech, Impression Technician
My responsibilities as a modeler/technician include shaping a scan of a client’s ears to create a custom Inner Ear Monitor shell with all audio driver seats and bores in place, finalizing everything for printing & assembly. I customize and troubleshoot our proprietary modeling programs (3Shape’s Shell Designer & ShapeDesigner, among others). I also stepped into the role of all importing, organization, & maintenance to rest of the team’s production builds. I also work closely with our engineer to develop and import R&D iterations to streamline our pipeline and develop new products. Additionally, I have cross-trained in 3D scanning & printing on Envisiontec cDLM 3D printers to provide more flexibility to my team, as well as communicating to vendors and customers fit issues and limitations.
Art Lead
I worked as an art lead for a small team of game developers. I directed other animators and artists on the aesthetic feel of the game, using Clip Studio EX, Photoshop, Maya, Unity, & Github as well as overseeing the character development, story progression, & visual style of the game. Extra attention was payed to emotion and countenance of character through posture, movement, facial expression, and palette.
Course Instructor
Through PNCA's summer camp Design.Labs, I ran a summer class for teenagers to learn or develop there grasp of form. We started with a rough idea in water based clay, then remodeled our finished sculpture in SculptGL(a browser based modeling program). Then our final classes were finalizing and 3D printing our models with PNCA printers. The students had a blast and got it all done.... All in one week!
Production Team Lead
I managed a manufacturing shop specializing in custom signs, rubber stamps, awards, plaques, & embossers. I maintained a queue of customers product orders, placed either online, over the phone, or in the store. Product designs were created using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and CorelDRAW. Custom products were made using mechanical or laser engravers, sublimation printing techniques, and hand assembled products. Occasional troubleshooting and maintenance to the printers.
Sculptor / Mold-Maker
Helped with sculpting, mold-making, & casting of "live terra cotta warrior" costumes for the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Costumes were first sculpted life size in clay then cast in pieces to be worn by models. The end product was two cast latex and cloth costumes sewn together and worn by actors.
Instructor
As an Instructor for the Foundations Department, i worked directing individuals and groups of 20 or more people through projects intended to push the principles and concepts of the three dimensional human form.Duties include: Working with and teaching canons for human proportion, structure, geometry, balance, & anatomy. Utilizing different sculpture materials, methods, and tools to achieve the desired effect. Classroom organization & management, verbal & visual communication techniques.
Tutor
As a tutor for the Academy Resource Center (ARC), i worked with students on an individual basis, guiding them through issues as the popped up on a week to week basis. Classes/subjects i tutored were figure modeling, ecorche(anatomy), ceramics, mold-making, and creature creation. Areas i focused on as a tutor were sculpting the human form anatomy, proportion, hands, feet, facial features, hair, wrinkles, & expressions.
Ceramics Expert
Provided extensive guidance and supervision for kids kindergarten through 7th grade with different ceramic projects with a weekly theme. Mostly hand building and wheel throwing techniques, as well as engaging a group of 20 kids in group games and activities Duties included: Ceramic techniques such as slipping and scoring, coil pots, slab building, press molds, tool safety, and operating electric and kick wheels. Performed skits and played games with large and small groups, helped with conflict resolution and general handyman work.
Ceramics Expert
Sculptor & Moldmaker
As a sculptor I worked individually and collaboratively as a figurative and abstract sculptor under the direction of Mario Chiodo, assisting in the “Remember Them: Champions of Humanity”, as well as other commissions. Duties include: Sculpting, carving foam(knife & hot-wire), large and small scale armature construction, mold making, scaling sculptures from small to large proportions, operating forklifts and scissor lifts, & extensive use of handheld and power tools.
Apprentice Sculptor - Just The Right Shoe
I assisted Deborah Samia in the completion of small collectibles. Sculpting was done solely in castiline wax, all details and accessories were also completed in wax to fit exactly as the final product should. Extensive tooling and sanding was needed to have either the polished or textured look desired in the final resin cast.
