A highlight was a two-year tour to Singapore, working on RNZAF Iroquois helicopter avionics systems. During this time regular deployments were made from Singapore to operate from tented camps in the Malaysian jungle. A breadth of expertise was also gained in the test equipment calibration field, with training provided by; Highest position obtained in the ranks was Non Commissioned Officer in charge of the RNZAF standards of frequency, voltage, inductance, capacitance, resistance and attenuation.
