The prime focus of this role was to merge the cultures and maintenance practices of two organisations to achieve maximum synergies, while retaining safety, regulatory compliance and continuity of operation.Approved B737 aircraft Specification, Maintenance Programmes and Maintenance Implementation.Managed the aircraft annual maintenance budget of NZD$225m.Controlled the maintenance and configuration specifications for a fleet of 40 aircraft.Acted as the Operators interface with Maintenance Providers.Established trans-Tasman links to ensure that the regulatory requirements of both countries were satisfied.

RNZAF Squadron Leader, managing an avionics repair workshop with 85 personnel under command.

RNZAF Base Wigram - ChristchurchSupervised the training programme for avionics technicians, photographers and telecommunications operators. Responsible for the welfare of up to 100 trainees and professional guidance of 20 instructors. Duties included training design, instructor assessment, internal audit of the testing system and co-ordination of the training programme.Designed an avionics wing for a modern training facility at RNZAF Base Woodbourne. Produced a project plan to close the old facility at Wigram and transfer instructors, students and training materials to the new facility with minimal impact on the training programme.

Joined RNZAF as an airman cadet and trained as an avionics engineer, rising to the rank of sergeant before being offered a commission as an Engineering Officer. A highlight was a two-year tour to Singapore, working on RNZAF Iroquois helicopter avionics systems. During this time regular deployments were made from Singapore to operate from tented camps in the Malaysian jungle. A breadth of expertise was also gained in the test equipment calibration field, with training provided by; Highest position obtained in the ranks was Non Commissioned Officer in charge of the RNZAF standards of frequency, voltage, inductance, capacitance, resistance and attenuation.
