In June 2022, I co-founded Chaptops to promote computer literacy in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala. Chaptops is shipping local companies' recently retired laptops for use in our center in Tactic, in local schools and by other youth organizations. I'm finally able to enjoy the fruits of my effort to earn an MS in Economics and Latin American Studies many years ago.I am a seasoned scientific Data Scientist with broad omics expertise. I am potentially interested in volunteer work that applies my skills in working with data to societal problems. In addition, I am open to short-term or part-time paid work in the sciences.

FounderChaptops, Inc. May 2022 - PresentI recently founded Chaptops to foster computer literacy in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, the poorest part of one of the Western Hemisphere's poorest countries. Chaptops's vision is a Guatemala with equitable access to the power of computing for all citizens. Chaptops currently seeks donations of recently retired but serviceable laptops from local companies. These computers can be shipped very economically to worthy schools and nonprofits in Guatemala. Chaptops hopes to create a workshop where Guatemalan students can learn to refurbish donated computers by the end of 2023.
