Responsible for leading, guiding, and developing the Alliance’s field service strategies across a diverse thirty-two state region that spans the Midwestern, Southeastern, and Northeastern portions of the U.S.

Served as Board Treasurer for Virginia United Land Trusts (VaULT), a statewide service center for the land conservation community in Virginia. Worked collaboratively with VaULT staff, fellow board members, and member organizations to strengthen land conservation in Virginia and develop and implement statewide conservation policy positions.

Conduct a strategically targeted outreach and education program focused on building relationships with landowners resulting in one of the most successful land conservation programs in the Commonwealth. Assist in the formulation of organizational legislative positions and conduct lobbying efforts with elected officials and with government agency staff at the local, state, and federal level on land conservation issues and related tax policy. Serve as an internal and external resource on land conservation related tax, transactional, and financial matters. Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors that are key to organizational success.

Queenstown, Maryland, United States

Identified, negotiated, and closed numerous types of land preservation real estate transactions including donated and purchased conservation easements, fee simple purchases, and pre-acquisitions for government agencies. Maintained relationships with landowners, attorneys, surveyors, appraisers, title agencies, and other consultants. Conducted outreach events and implemented strategic land protection priorities within ESLC’s service area. Resolved stewardship issues on protected properties.

Franklin, West Virginia, United States

Developed, secured funding for, and managed a USAID supported Development Education program. Developed a series of university level research expeditions to protected areas in Peru and Nepal focused on comparing and contrasting these programs to US protected area management. Organized a UNEP, UNESCO, and FAO sponsored international conference on the linkage between sacred mountains and environmental conservation. Assisted with budgeting, financial management, and strategic planning for TMI’s Appalachian Program.
