Rey Bufi or Kuya Rey is a storyteller, inspirational speaker, trainor and founder of The Storytelling Project (TSP), a non-profit organization which aims to spark hope, inspiration and imagination through storytelling. He has tirelessly crossed rivers and excitedly conquered mountains to reach remote communities – to bring TSP’s own brand of happy learning. He has given storytelling workshops for more than 10000 volunteers, students and teachers. He has reached more than 30,000 kids from Camiguin Norte, Babuyan Islands to Patikul, Sulu.He is also the founder of Bása Bookstore. It is a travelling bookstore, training solutions provider and a social enterprise whose mission is to promote the ingenuity of Filipino authors and publishers by bringing their works closer to communities across the country. Bása Bookstore, formerly Angkas Travelling Bookstore, has a fleet of bikes and a van called BasaBike and BasaVan respectively. Kuya Rey is also a Director / Sectoral Representative for Storytellers in the Philippines of the Philippine Board on Books for Young People (PBBY). PBBY is a private, non-stock, non-profit organization committed to the development of children's literature in the Philippines.Kuya Rey has been featured in media as education advocate and resource person by CNN Philippines, ABS-CBN, GMA, TV5, Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Standard, News Café among others.The Storytelling Project was awarded the Linguistic Intelligence Award by Multiple Intelligence School through its 7th MI Awards in 2017 and was recognized by the Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines as Most Outstanding Reading Program in 2019 through the LibTalk Awards. Recently, Kuya Rey and his growing family was selected as one of the 6 winners of the 9th Jollibee Family Values Awards this 2019. He was also one of the 5 winners of the 2019 Ginebra Ako Awards where he received the Ginebra Ako Para sa Kabataan Award.Rey Bufi discovered his passion for teaching when he became an active employee volunteer of Smart Communications, Inc. for Read-To-Be-Smart for 10 years.

We hope that through our efforts, Basa Bookstore will encourage more Filipinos to write books, share their stories and earn a living while contributing to the culture of reading.Through our Buy a Book to Give Program, we are pooling individual book donors and bridging them to education-focused organizations while giving value-adding activities to the beneficiaries.
