Instructed art course for UACS' Youth Arts Initiative Program. The course explored the legitimacy and artistic merit of urban art. Students gained an understanding of urban art and it’s relation to society, the environment and the passion the artist reveals for the city and culture. Students engaged in discussions of the works of influential urban artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat. Working with a variety of materials, students explored the creative process, from drafting ideas to the final completion of work. This provided the opportunity for students to develop life skills in time management, and self-motivation as well as developing technical skills with a variety of visual art mediums.
