Reyna Rosales (formerly Jia Volpella) is a second year student in George Brown College's Assaulted Women's and Children's Counsellor/Advocate (AWCCA) program, with a strong interest in issues of importance to LGBTQ2IA, BIPOC, disabled, and other marginalized communities. Prior to the AWCCA program, Reyna also attend the University of Toronto, studying English and Sociology (Migration & Ethnic Diversity). She held the position of President of the UTSC Jewish Student Life association from May 2015 - August 2017, and during this time networked with other religious, cultural, and racialized student groups on campus to help foster an inclusive, diverse, and egalitarian environment. Reyna is a freelance writer, specializing in topics such as mental illness, feminism, social justice, and disability. At present, Reyna posts about these topics on a personal blog on Medium.com. Content is authentic, motivational, and honest, and is intended to be accessible and inclusive for readers from diverse, marginalized communities.Reyna's future goals include working with survivors of violence, particularly in a counselling role, as well as advocacy in support of survivors, the queer community, and the disabled community.
