Dr. Matthew Nelson is a board certified (ABFM) family medicine and obesity medicine (ABOM) physician and is fellowship-trained in obstetrics, affiliated with Banner Page Hospital. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). He received his medical and public health degrees from A.T. Still University and anthropology degrees from New Mexico and Utah Valley University, and has been in practice since 2015. He is faculty for multiple schools of health professions and a regional instructor for Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics courses in addition to women’s health clerkships, rural health electives, and currently serves as the site director for University of Arizona’s Phoenix COM Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship in rural northern Arizona. He has extensive knowledge and experience with indigenous health, and has worked with marginalized and displaced communities and populations throughout his career as an anthropologist and physician.
