I am not limited by geography, can work anywhere in the USA and am open to international projects.I am knowledgeable in how money flows through the US health care sytstem, including the financial levers of insurance companies, employers, government payors, specialty and primary care physicians, hospitals, outpatient facilities, ancillary services, pharmaceutical companies, etc. I believe that a deep understanding of health care economics is critical in crafting successful change strategy, forecasting the impact of new revenue models, as well as in mapping competitive reactions, appropriate physician reimbursement strategies, etc. I have experience moving from FFS to capitation to global risk, both from a financial and clinical management standpoint.I also have almost 30 years of demonstrated physician collaboration and leadership experience. I can successfully work with physicians 1:1, at a practice level, and in rooms with several hundred physicians participating. I have been honored to lead physician groups scaled from single specialty practices through my recent role as CEO of a group with over 1,500 physicians of all specialties.I am looking forward to exploring opportunities to stretch myself and my abilities in order to help great organizations make a meaningful difference in addressing the many issues facing our health care delivery systems.

Brown & Toland has a storied history spanning decades. In my time as CEO I am proud that we built upon that foundation of managing risk and coordinating care for large populations while supporting independent physicians.Over the last few years we participated in Medicare's Pioneer ACO program, and were one of the few ACOs in the USA who demonstrated improved quality and reduced costs in each of the 3 years in which we participated. During this time we also filed for and received a limited California insurance license that enabled us to take global (professional and facility) risk for our Medicare Advantage patients. We also built upon our Clinically Integrated model to implement PPO - ACO programs with five different major payors, and successfully demonstrated that we could improve quality and decrease costs across these non-capitated populations. While expanding the business model through these initiatives, we also grew the network from approximately 800 physicians in San Francisco to over 1500 across the northern Bay Area, and grew our revenues from $175M to almost $300M - during a time of declining HMO enrollment in the marketplace. While serving as Brown & Toland's CEO, I had the honor of participating on CAPG's Board of Directors, and of serving on the Integrated Healthcare Association's (IHA) governing board and chairing IHA's Value Based P4P Governance Committee - which is driving performance measurement and incentive design innovation through an industry collaborative approach.

Developed and executed the strategy to support the physicians in purchasing the multi-specialty medical group (employing 115 physicians practicing in nine ambulatory offices serving approximately 80,000 managed care and 15,000 FFS patients, with annual revenues of over $90 million) from MedPartners. Then was responsible for all business functions of the company, working in partnership with physician leader(s) to set strategy for the organization.

Responsible for all business functions of the specialty medical group with 13 cardiologists and eight hospitalists.
