Developing protocols to use environmental DNA in order to identify and build a library of eukaryotic organisms inhabiting the mesopelagic zone of the ocean. Working with engineers to create new autonomous samplers for in situ sampling of the ocean's water. Part of WHOI's Ted Audacious project, Ocean Twilight Zone, focusing on the biodiversity and biomass of the mesopelagic zone of the ocean, examining food web interactions, and contributions to the carbon cycle.

Research Assistant II in Jed Goldstone's Oceans and Human Health laboratory, WHOI department of biology. Toxicology lab focused on using zebrafish as a model organism to examine gene response to toxins present in our waters. Work includes genotyping mutant zebrafish, zebrafish husbandry, and computationally modeling protein-ligand interactions

Cape Cod, Massachusetts

Taught kids the age of 4-15 years about the natural history of Cape Cod, ranging from environmental changes, habitat requirements of local animals, and the effects of environmental laws on the local resources. Responsibilities included preparing exciting, age appropriate lessons for the students, creating games to reinforce their learning, and leading discovery walks to tidal flats, ponds, and other local habitats. After wrapping up the camp day, I led public tours for visiting families, where kids could get hands-on experience learning about nature while i discussed recent research projects that were occurring with the parents.

Hawaiian Islands

Helped teach HIMB Research Experience in Marine Science (REMS), a 5 week program designed for high school students, where they were taught different scientific techniques, experimental design, how to put together presentations, and present scientific data. At the end of the 5 weeks, students designed their own experiment and presented for parents and local researchers. At the same time, I worked on coral reef metabolomic research in the Gates Lab and aided in coral reef spawning projects.
