    Dundee University required a consultant role to assess and create a strategy for developing their cross platform backup solution. My task was to assess the University backup requirements, and formulate a framework strategy that would lead them to a long and short-term solution to resolve their backup issues. In addition I gave technical assistance to their support team as required. Dundee University use Novell Netware 6/6.5, Unix, Linux and GroupWise 6.5, SAN storage and DELL servers.At South Ayreshire Council, my primary role was to tackle issues allocated through the helpdesk system whilst the permanent staff upgraded their servers to NetWare 6.5 and GroupWise 6.5. I was also called upon to make recommendations regarding NetWare backup solutions and the integration of Citrix Metaframe system with Novell ZenWorks. I also used my Novell skills to assist with the upgrades.At Aberdeenshire Council, I worked with a small team based in Banff. My role was as Helpdesk Operator. This involved troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues which were allocated to me through the Council’s helpdesk system. Aberdeenshire Council used Novell Netware 5, Windows servers and Lotus Notes.
