Directed the operation of three major units consisting of: Data Center Operations, Platform Support, and LAN/Desktop Support. As the first Director in this capacity, audited existing capabilities and realigned the units and re-engineered key processes. Coordinated feasibility studies such as Business Resumption Services and Network Storage Infrastructure; Participated in the development of business cases, including metrics and rates for new services. Procured and deployed a consolidated storage solution; Consolidated two mainframes at an annual savings of $500,000 and migrated to a state-of-the-art single mainframe platform, while maintaining and improving customer service (team awarded a prestigious Davis Quality Award.

Directed the information Technology resources for the Department consisting of a large data center, five Divisions, over sixty regional and local offices. Guided the migration effort from decentralization to centralization of the IT services in the Department. Ensured that technology was in support of and aligned with the Department s strategic goals, each division’s individual business needs, and legislative mandates. Ensured that the current and future technology environment was prepared to meet the changing demands of the Department through proper planning, design, acquisition, implementation and support. Represented the Department among other governmental bodies with the objective of improving delivery of services to the citizens of Florida, improving inter-agency communications, information sharing and the acquisition of Information Technology resources to meet the Department s needs.

Directed the Information Management Center (IMC) activities for the Department. IMC consisted of over 140 employees, a large mainframe, a wide-area network with over 5000 users, microcomputers, local-area networks, and regional minicomputers.Coordinated the Information Resource Management plans and IT acquisitions for the Department. Directed the development of strategic long-range plans, operational plans, and annual performance reports. Monitored the planning process to insure compliance with Florida's statutory requirementsCoordinated the consolidation of key divisional technical services into an enterprise environment managed by the IMC; and the Y2K reparation project with successful results.

Responsible for all planning including administration, facilities, network control and telecommunications, technical support, office automation support and data base administration.
