Over 30 years of experience in statewide Information Technology Management, Operations, Auditing, Project Management, Program Management, Strategic Planning, Systems Management Processes, Feasibility Studies, Risk Assessments, Enterprise Architecture and Technology, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery Planning, Performance Based Budgeting, Cost Recovery and Purchasing. My career in the management of government technology began in 1968 as a computer systems analyst with the Florida Department of Labor.In 1979 I was promoted to data Processing Manager responsible for the statewide planning, development and implementation of integrated computer-based information systems for DLES.In 1985 I was asked to direct the development and maintenance of long-range plans, objectives, and policies relating to present and future data processing systems requirements. In 1988, I returned to the operational ranks as Assistant Data Center Director for the Information Management Center (IMC).In January 1998, I was appointed Bureau Chief of the Information Management Center. During this period his duties included management of a large data center and related budgeting, finance, procurement, human resources, and training functions. In May 2001, I was appointed Chief Information Officer (Acting), retaining my previous duties and assuming additional executive functions.In July 2002, with the elimination of the DLES, I assumed the position of Director for Managed Services with the State Technology Office. In this capacity, I managed the STO’s computing platforms—including the Shared Resource Center (SRC), the Systems Engineering Group, the Open Systems platform, the LAN Support Team, Database Support, and the Help Desk.
