Worked on the backend systems for both Elevate and Balance apps. Both are modern Rails applications integrating with a mobile client and multiple single sign-on systems (Google SSO, AppleID, Facebook), payment platforms (Play Store, App Store, Stripe), and event handling systems (Singular, Braze, Segment, Appsflyer). Managed the design and transition from direct integration with payment platforms to a consolidated system under RevenueCat while maintaining complex needs around promotional pricing.I supported the company's BI systems from the initial home-brew Python+Redshift ETL system to the new DBT+Snowflake system where I played a supporting role. One interesting project that I ran was adding statistical functions to our Snowflake deployment via external functions using Python+PySci on Lambda. This system was configured and deployed via Serverless.I also took many DevOps capabilities over our Heroku and Amazon ecosystem as well as application and system monitoring via Sentry and NewRelic

Built the first production version of Doxel's web-based dashboard on Rails and React. Setup parts of the data labeling pipeline to support our ML systems. Managed and scripted the web stack infrastructure using Terraform and AWS. Established agile development practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, code review, and sprint-based planning/execution.

Formerly InternMatch; I managed the development team and agile process at Looksharp. I hired the team and coached them in Rails and agile software development. A large portion of my time involved contributing to the leadership team with product and technical insights. I helped shift Looksharp in to be a stronger technology focused company.

I worked with the founder to transition the product from a proof of concept to a customer ready application. I also planned for medium term growth of users and development team. As the only developer initially I was contributing 100% of the code during that time. On the business side, I helped guide business and product plans for the launch.

I support the engineering leadership in navigating complex architectural problems as well as planning for future growth. On the hiring side I have consulted on team size and composition and have participated in candidate review. I also work with the business and sales teams on planning the business goals along side the technical/product roadmap.

I helped the founders wind down the company and shut down the product gracefully. I also advised them on value of various assets and cost of realizing some of that value.

I was the first technical hire and took the prototype application and grew it to a usable production ready application. I also grew the tech team and created a process that allowed the whole organization to integrate with the product development process. I also contributed to the strategic decision making regarding product/business direction and development.

I joined Broadspire as it was shedding it's managed hosting business and downsizing it's web agency to focus on their website builder platform for several large real estate companies and their agents and brokers. My role included re-gearing their development team for sustainable application development techniques as well as supporting the business' transition from agency/consulting type work to being a product focused company.

I worked as a developer on many client projects as well as a strategic advisor on some of the more complex projects. I also was charged with growing the development team from 6 developers to > 20 developers deployed all over the world and working on many project. I also worked with our teams to develop practices that enabled an agile work environment for our developers and clients even over many timezones.

Managed and grew the engineering team and guided the execution of the product vision. I also worked with the team to pursue more speculative research based on the core technologies developed for the primary product in an effort to explore possible alternative directions.

My work primarily focused on distributed computing. My Masters project was an overlay batch submission system that allowed a complex compute job to be submitted to many (10s-100s of) super computers and clusters simultaneously through a single interface.
